Room Design supports three distinct design types, each optimized for different use cases and delivery methods. Understanding these types helps you choose the right approach for your project.

App Design Type

Description

Interactive 3D room designs that run directly within the RDesign desktop application. This is the most feature-rich design type, offering complete control over all aspects of the room.

Streaming Design Type

Description

Real-time streaming room experiences that allow remote users to view high-quality 3D rooms without requiring the full RDesign application. The room is rendered on cloud servers and streamed to viewers.

  • No Installation Required: Clients don’t need the RDesign app

Streaming Workflow

  1. Prepare your App-type design
  2. Initiate a streaming session from the RDesign app
  3. Share the streaming link with viewers
  4. Control the presentation or allow viewer navigation
  5. End session when complete

Floorplan Design Type

Description

2D floorplan-based designs that focus on layout planning and spatial organization. This type prioritizes quick layout creation and is ideal for initial planning phases.

  • Top-down View: Bird’s-eye perspective of the room layout
  • Quick Placement: Fast furniture and wall arrangement
  • Dimension Tools: Built-in measurement and spacing tools
  • Export Options: Generate 2D layout drawings

Floorplan designs can be upgraded to App-type designs, allowing you to start with quick 2D layouts and later add detailed 3D visualization.

Choosing the Right Design Type

Decision Guide

Choose App when:

  • You need complete design control
  • High-quality rendering is required
  • Working offline or with large files
  • Iterating on complex designs

Choose Streaming when:

  • Presenting to remote clients
  • Viewers don’t have RDesign installed
  • Cross-platform access is needed
  • Real-time collaboration is important

Choose Floorplan when:

  • Starting a new project from scratch
  • Focusing on spatial layout first
  • Quick approval is needed
  • 2D documentation is sufficient

Converting Between Types

Floorplan → App

Convert your 2D layout to a full 3D interactive design. This preserves all furniture placement and dimensions while adding 3D visualization capabilities.

App → Streaming

Any App-type design can be launched as a streaming session. The original App design remains unchanged, and streaming sessions are created on-demand.

⚠️

Note: Streaming and App types cannot be directly converted to Floorplan. You would need to recreate the layout as a new Floorplan design.
