Items & Catalogs

This section explains the basic mechanism of how “Items” such as furniture and building materials are managed and saved in catalogs in R.Design.

Item Types

Items in R.Design are broadly classified into two types: Regular Items and Custom Items.

Regular Item

Refers to standard standalone products provided by manufacturers or brands. This is the most basic unit when placing from the catalog via drag and drop.

Regular Item Example

Custom Item

These are items saved as independent records separate from Regular Items, in a state where multiple items are combined or specific customizations (such as size changes or material changes) have been applied.

  • Saved Information:
    • Mesh (shape) and Material of each item used
    • Relative position information between items (combined state)

This allows you to save, for example, a “set with small items placed on a table” or a “sofa adjusted to a specific size and material” as a single Custom Item in My Catalog for reuse.

How to Create a Custom Item

Select the placed items and perform the save operation from the “Room Items” menu, etc., to add them to My Catalog as a Custom Item.

Creating Custom Item

Catalog System

The lists where items are displayed (catalogs) include the Default Catalog and My Catalog.

Default Catalog

The standard catalog provided by R.Design. It contains thousands of brand furniture and building materials available to all users.

My Catalog

A catalog dedicated to the individual user. Custom Items you create are saved here. Saving frequently used combinations or favorite customizations can streamline your design work.

Catalog Display Switching

You can improve work efficiency by hiding unnecessary catalog categories or organizing the display order.
